Re: SF/Oak Bay Area Comcast - Worst Service Ever

I had the same problem as you, switched from comcast (8meg at that, which went down in the low 300kBs at night) to SBC/ATT --- same thing happened! I'm a happy dslextreme customer now, so check them out!

It isn't just the west Bay Area. I live in East San Jose and am using Comcast "high speed cable" for my job as a medical transcriptionist connecting to the University of Wisconsin Hospital to download voice recorded Dictaphone files. I am paid by the line. Lately download speeds have been about 16 kbps to 50 kbps during the day and into the evening. This is totally ridiculous! Out of an 8-hour shift, I find myself sitting watching my computer over half of the time, doing nothing and making no money. I have just moved back from Las Vegas, where I was using Cox Cable, and it was fantastic. Download speeds were consistently 450 kbps, which is what Comcast advertises. I will have to find another ISP because I can't continue to perform my job with a cable system as incompetent and unreliable as Comcast.
