Re: Getting Earthlink Line Powered Voice on 2/3

If you want to get support for LPV, the number to call is 1-877-356-5864 Option 3. You'll get to an Omaha Center that can check everything (for voice and dsl) for you.

Ok - I'll keep trying. Thanks for the tip.
Normally I just retry the test from the same screen where the failure message comes up. It seems to me like the modem just takes a little while to sync and is working on it in the background.

I've been told that the correct Earthlink CS line for line powered voice/DSL bundled issues related to this new ADSL2+ offer is their 888 ELNKVOICE number. (the "C" and "E" are probably not so important).
I've found the folks there to be all right--some better than others.

Their basic help line 1-888-earthlink. You then go through a mulitiple of screening questions to get technical support for DSL. It's at the point of getting to the supposed DSL support that the message come through that they are experiencing wide-spread outtages - not terribly reassuring - and cannot take the call.

Sign up with another provider

No, seriously, the hour-long wait only to get an offshore support person who can barely read from the appropriate section of script in front of them was a common occurance for me during my short Earthlink experience.

Keep posting here, the people on this board are pretty knowledgable and universally more helpful/less frustrating to talk to than official Earthlink support. The only downside is that they don't have the ability to (for example) RMA your modem if it's defective.

I used the new instructions, posted by tquan, and saw that the multiplex default was not LLC. I changed that - and ran the diagnostic again. The modem failed diagnostics for "ping default gateway", and "test PPP/PPOE connections".
It often takes more than one run of the diagnostics for them to pass (the modem isn't the fastest at getting sync). The diagnostics always pass for me after 2-3 tries. Usually the first couple of failures are on the same two steps you saw the failures on.

Earthlink support still isn't answering, "due to high volume of calls due to a system outage".
Again, what "Earthlink support" number are you calling that gives you the message you have posted?

Yes, I've followed the steps exactly. I'm not sure of your question - what phone number am I calling? The DSL line is my home number.

Did you setup exactly as the images show? No skipped steps and or changes?

What phone number are you calling?

Thanks for the resonses. I had set up my modem using the wizard for the Zyxel modem. And it had appeared to have passed all diagnostics. I used the new instructions, posted by tquan, and saw that the multiplex default was not LLC. I changed that - and ran the diagnostic again. The modem failed diagnostics for "ping default gateway", and "test PPP/PPOE connections". Earthlink support still isn't answering, "due to high volume of calls due to a system outage".

Earthlink Line Powered Voice --- ZyXEL Problem

I received my start up kit about the same time (I'm in Seattle) I've been trying unsuccessfully to get an internet connection ever since. As you indicated, it was tough to get the XyZel modem to pass all of its diagnotics. I've finally managed that - and it appears that all systems are "go". However, when I try to connect to the internet - I get a "remote computer is not answering". My experience with Earthlink support has been very frustrating. Lots of "we're experiencing system wide outages and can't take your call now". When I do get through, I frequently get the same "system outage" message from the off-shore technical support person. Any suggestions would be appreciate.
