| [ex-GTE] Analog Modem and DSL
I have been thinking of setting up my zoom modem again for faxing. This is probably a dumb question but do I need to use a filter on the analog phone line for the modem like I do for a telephone. Or can I not even use that old modem with DSL on the line? Any alternatives to faxing using a modem, somehow using the internet? Steve |

| reply to SteveAH10 »Need free fax software for Windows
I ended up using the fax software that comes as part of Windows XP.
I think XP Pro comes with the fax software by default, while on XP Home, you have to add it either directly from the CD, or from: Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Add or Remove Widows Components.
Once the windows fax software is installed, you can take any file and select print, and it will give you a fax option. Additionally it'll give you a utility for basic faxes under Start > Accessories > *something* |

| reply to SteveAH10 Yes, there are services that will handle your faxes for you. They can email them to you or show them on a web page. My dad used one of these services for a while and was happy with it. Some examples can be found here: »dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Econo···ervices/ |
