| reply to JohnA Re: Need help setting up Router with Verizon DSL, Westell 2200.
What Dlink? If it's a switch you used behind the 2200, remove it.
Switch? No DLink is not a switch, it's an Ethernet Card so you can connect Ethernet Cable to it.
Was your connection already up and running, and now you're just trying to add the router behind the 2200? If yes, you don't use the CD, you need to set the 2200 to bridge mode, turn off it's DHCP server, put the Linksys in place, and set up your PPPoE log-in in the setup page of the Linksys. Here's a FAQ that describes it: »Verizon Online DSL FAQ »How do I use a router with the Westell 2200?
Duh, if my internet was not working how could I post? Yes I am trying to connect the Desktop to the Router, so I can add my Notebook to it after.
I did everything on that FAQ up till it told me to type in 192.168.2.1 -- That would not connect.
I think I did something wrong configuring the VC?
Right now it's like this:
Status VPI: 0 VCI: 35 Protocol: PPPoE
and in the edit menu it is:
VPI: 0 VCI: 35 PCR: 100 QoS: UBR Protocol: PPPoE Status: Enabled VC 1 - PPPoE Settings IP Address: 0.0.0.0 Gateway: 0.0.0.0 DNS Primary: 0.0.0.0 DNS Secondary: 0.0.0.0 Subnet Mask MRU Negotiation: Not selected LCP Echo Disable: Not selected LCP Echo Failures: 6 "Must be between 1 and 30 inclusive." LCP Echo Duration: 60 "Must be between 5 and 300 seconds inclusive and greater or equal to Retry Duration." LCP Echo Retry Duration: 10 "Must be between 5 and 300 seconds inclusive." Tunneling: Enable
When I go into Bridge mode it changes to this:
VPI: 0 VCI: 35 PCR: 100 QoS: UBR Protocol: Bridge Status: Enabled VC 1 - Bridge Settings Mode: Bridge
and yes, I turned DHCP off like it said in the FAQ. |

| Sorry never noticed that. The IP to the set up page on the Linksys is 192.168.1.1. The defaults are User is left blank and password is admin On set up page select PPPoE for type of connection enter Verizon Username and Password, select Always On, and save those settings Close the browser. You should be done. When you open the browser you should go straight on line. |

JohnA Premium join:2003-09-16 Pittsburgh, PA | Now you've got me. PC connected to a LAN port of the router, router powered, go ahead and connect the WAN port of the router to the modem.
The PC should have a 192.168.1.100 IP, showing a Gateway of 192.168.1.1. It should be able to connect. |

| OHHHH Now I see what I was doing wrong!
I know how to get into router settings now!
Before I was connecting the blue cord into the modem port of the Router instead of space number 1. Plugging the blue cord into space number 1 and typing in 192.168.1.1 allowed me to view the router settings! I will let you know what happens! |

| reply to FireDivine Have you setup an Internet connection thru a Local Area Network (LAN)?
I was having a similar problem accessing my router .... when I entered 192.168.1.1 into the address field of my browser, it would call up my Dial-Up dialog box and attempt to call my old ISP via my 56K Modem.
After many hours or research and reading many related posts on various forums, I saw where someone said you had to setup an Internet connectiono thru a LAN. So, I did more research via my browser HELP files and proceeded to setup just such and Intnet connection - using the Internet Connection Wizard. Then, the 1st time I entered 192.168.1.1 into the address field of my browser ...... BINGO ! !
Wellllll - it helped me - don't know if it will you or not. -- willperk |

I was hoping you weren't doing that. Figured if I had you plug the modem into the WAN port, it had to be right. I know you can get in an SR41 without a WAN connection.
Matters not, all the frustration goes when it all works. Congrats, you are now a network admin. |
