Re: Need help setting up Router with Verizon DSL, Westell 2200.

Sorry never noticed that. The IP to the set up page on the Linksys is 192.168.1.1. The defaults are User is left blank and password is admin On set up page select PPPoE for type of connection enter Verizon Username and Password, select Always On, and save those settings Close the browser. You should be done. When you open the browser you should go straight on line.

I connected the blue cord from the desktop to the router and typed 192.168.1.1 into the browser, and nothing came up.

Now you've got me. PC connected to a LAN port of the router, router powered, go ahead and connect the WAN port of the router to the modem.

The PC should have a 192.168.1.100 IP, showing a Gateway of 192.168.1.1. It should be able to connect.

When the Desktop is connected to the internet, I can type in 192.168.1.1 into the browser, and the modem settings DO appear. But I can not get into the Router settings. I am a bit confused myself...

OHHHH Now I see what I was doing wrong!

I know how to get into router settings now!

Before I was connecting the blue cord into the modem port of the Router instead of space number 1. Plugging the blue cord into space number 1 and typing in 192.168.1.1 allowed me to view the router settings! I will let you know what happens!

Have you setup an Internet connection thru a Local Area Network (LAN)?

I was having a similar problem accessing my router .... when I entered 192.168.1.1 into the address field of my browser, it would call up my Dial-Up dialog box and attempt to call my old ISP via my 56K Modem.

After many hours or research and reading many related posts on various forums, I saw where someone said you had to setup an Internet connectiono thru a LAN. So, I did more research via my browser HELP files and proceeded to setup just such and Intnet connection - using the Internet Connection Wizard. Then, the 1st time I entered 192.168.1.1 into the address field of my browser ...... BINGO ! !

Wellllll - it helped me - don't know if it will you or not. -- willperk

I was hoping you weren't doing that. Figured if I had you plug the modem into the WAN port, it had to be right. I know you can get in an SR41 without a WAN connection.

Matters not, all the frustration goes when it all works. Congrats, you are now a network admin.
