Technically doesn't that make it all the more pathetic that they contributed to 80% of the world's growth? (If you're going to play the geography card) How many people in California have fiber-to-the home? The geography argument only floats in penetration arguments, and even then, not very well (Canada leads us, etc.)

Well, actually, I guess it's great if you want to live in an apartment the size of a refrigerator in Japan, just as long as you have access to fiber. Right? The grass is not always greener. Those numbers don't tell the whole story.

Population of Japan: 127.4 million
Population of California: 33.8 million

Just a tad bit of difference there density wise vs. land mass... 4:1 ratio

There are people in Brooklyn who can't get DSL. How does this telco "geography" excuse that pops up all the time from you BellSouth employees account for the gaps in coverage?
