You know you are a geek when you describe your MB as "sexy" and "cute."

With the help of my friends on the PCQ&A technical forum, physical guidance and help from technical friends living in the Houston area, and donated internals and peripheral devices (used HD, RAM, mouse; new monitor and keyboard) I now have two complete computer systems. I also received support, suggestions, and encouragement from my many cyber friends around the world. I will have both systems hooked up to a wireless D-link 624-C router (soon I hope). For now, the XP computer is on SBC ADSL and I have to use dial-up on the 98SE computer to send/receive work from Grid. Both systems have their own APC UPS.

I know that no one wants to hear about the old system, therefore, I will describe the new system. Pentium 4 Prescott 2.8 GHz CPU (478 socket, 533 FSB); compatible ASUS board (with more "bells and whistles" than I need right now); Radeon 9250 ATI Sapphire AGP; so far, 1 GHz of Corsair RAM; Lite-On CD-ROM and CD/DVD RW drives; floppy drive; and an Antec case with CPU cooling (the panel has a cone inside to sit over the CPU and a vent to the outside). The case has room to grow: room for three optical drives, three hard drives, two floppy-sized drives, and a space to add a front fan.

New system is running XPpro and the security software includes Zone Alarm Pro and NOD-32 (AV). Parts were ordered from NewEgg and ZipZoomFly or purchased locally.

(do you love the butterfly towel??)
