Just wanted to update the forum. I ended up signing with rapidvps.com and so far am impressed.
The $9 package gets you command line access to the box. If you are looking for Cpanel, etc that will cost more but they still seem to be very price competitive.
The server performance is good (I have the 9.95 plan) and reliability is good as well. Occasionally the server hangs for a second or two when I am SSH'd in which is probably a processor spike. But this seems pretty normal in a shared VPS environment. Also not sure if it is the server or my ISP connection.
I am most impressed with the responsiveness of the service. Typically email turn around is less than 30mins. I asked them to provide a reverse PTR record for my server (which all providers are not willing to do) and they happily complied and inserted the record within the hour. |
