It sends me straight to the login failed screen. I don't think I have anything set to autologin anonymous. I don't have any trouble accessing my SMC router. I've been using the 6520 just as a modem, with the SMC router setup with all the login info. But ever since I got this modem I've had IP spoofing attacks showing up every 10 minutes on the SMC router log. I looked around and the IP seems to be something to do with UPnP or multicast or something. I never paid it any mind.
But recently I noticed the internet light no longer lit up on the 6520, and it's now giving me these IP Spoofing things every minute or so. I directly connected to the modem to see if I could update the firmware for the modem or something, but encountered this login issue. I unplugged the modem from the phone line, and the IP spoofing things still show up, so it seems to be the modem doing it. I tried turning the modem off and on, unplugging it, resetting it to factory defaults. I even reset my router and re-programmed it just for the heck of it. It still seems to function fine as I can use the net no different than before, but it seems odd that the internet light would go out suddenly (when it was always on before) and the frequency of the IP spoofing increased.

| reply to DW29 After you completed the setup and modem reboots and you go back to the 192 page, does it give you the chance to logon? or straight to the page "login fails"?
If straight to the page login fails, maybe your browser is set to login auto as anonomous, restore to all defaults under tools - internet options. maybe even try another browser.
If does prompt for id and pw, but says invalid - hard reset modem and try again.(hold reset button in for 10seconds)
Just thinking of stuff off top my head though, not sure if any of it will fix your problem though.;) |

| Hi all,
I got this modem from Bell as part of the high speed package. I use 192.168.2.1 to load up the setup for the modem, followed the instructions for putting in account name and password, as well as choosing an admin name and password for the router. But the problem is, after it finishes and reboots, I can't log into the router. If I use 192.168.2.1, it just brings me to a page that says "The login failed. Check your password and make sure you typed it in correctly." and "Access permission is currently denied". It never even gives me a chance to log in!
I can still connect to the net using it, just not access the router config. Think maybe I have a faulty modem?
Any advice would be appreciated. DW |
