| Can't Resolve Site - Comcast DNS Changes?
Tried Comcast Live Chat (India?):
"Unfortunately, I do not have tools at my disposal to assist with DNS problem. My apologies for this inconvenience."
When I look here, I see that Comcast is changing DNS servers? How long until they repoll everything? The site in question is reachable via any proxy/service other than Comcast - how do I get it reincluded? Or is it just a matter of time? It's been unresolvable via Comcast for over 48 hours now... |

| reply to SJ-DNS- Prob Comcast has de-commisioned some DNS servers, they sent out an e-mail to people they thought had it statically set.
So you might have to wait for the info to re-populate.
Don't like that? Think it should happen faster?

| reply to SJ-DNS- Prob I had that problem tonight too, I have my own DNS server at the house, and couldn't resolve any addresses unless i used the comcast dns addresses for my requests.. don't quite understand that. As soon as I switched to theirs, everything was fine, but i hate using theirs. -- ...I don't have a 8mb speedy connection, I fly through the net at low altitudes! |

Assuming you use BIND 8 or BIND 9, consider using the `forwarders` clause to refer to Comcast's servers. This should help alleviate issues... unless, of course, the Comcast DNS servers you use are broken. -- Making life hard for others since 1977. In memory of 2005... |

| reply to koitsu I've got the same setup you have, cept i'm using klappy.local which isnt propagated, then 2 servers running primary/secondary DNS, which are also my mail and webservers. I thought about that, then I was like.. well if the comcast forwarders go down, i'm screwed there again.. so i changed them to sprintlink's dns.. (Which, I've never had a problem with at all) -- ...I don't have a 8mb speedy connection, I fly through the net at low altitudes! |

| reply to SJ-DNS- Prob I had been using the 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2 servers for a long time, but recently (a day or two ago) I started experiencing problems. I changed to nearby servers (speakeasy) and use the comcast for backup (and cache dns in my router).
That seems to have solved my problems. Why the 4221 & 4222 servers started flaking out I dont know why. Maybe comcast is doing something to that traffic, who knows.
