I called Bresnan yesterday and spoke with one of their the Techs. He said they are in the midst of upgrading their speed for cable internet and it will be 8mb down and 512k up. He also said there will be NO price increase! -- rod_pod |

And, if there is no rate hike, it remains at the price Centurytel charges for 1500/256 with 10-12% packet loss. |

@69.146.x.x | reply to rod_pod Yeah my latencies have skyrocketed to the 400's (during peak hours)! I hope this is just temporary its making my gaming pretty much impossible. |

| reply to DonaldLaird5 Yea I noticed this too. Although I was told on the phone by the tech support the speeds will be: 8000/768
But my speed tests show about 512 up right now.
The lady on the phone said the official announcement will be made at the beginning of april, although the upgrades are already done in most of the areas. |

| reply to DonaldLaird5 Yeah, she made a mistake with 768 up. The actual caps (1024 bits in a kilobit) are:
8473 kbps down 542 kbps up
They advertise 8000 down/512 up and overshoot it a little with the caps so they can meet or beat what they advertise when things are running well (unlike DSL which caps it at what they advertise, and then has overhead, and then runs PPPoE or PPPoA adding even more overhead...) |

| reply to DonaldLaird5 Bresnan had an outage last night from about 2am to 5am in Kalispell. When I woke up I did a few speed tests since the system was back up...and the upload was capped at 384 for all tests I ran
I have been getting the full 8000/512 speed EVERY time (usually its even a bit more than that)
Hope they haven't changed their minds about the 512 upload!
But I guess we will see when they finally announce it |
