Re: AntiVirus Poll 2006

You poll is only allowing one selection. I did not vote.

Must have been a temporary fluke because now it worked.

I've been using Avast for the past couple of years and am very pleased with it. The free version has the same engine as the pay version and is full of features. Fully configurable to individual taste, in addition to the resident scanner one can also install scanners for email, IMs, P2P and browser if desired. I use F-Prot as a back up scanner.

I use SAV Corp 10 instead of Norton. Much better. Trying KAV and NOD32 on separate machines. I'm probably gonna migrate from SAV though.

Another vote for AVAST. Reasons: see Mers2 post above. Sometimes use Bitdefender as secondary scanner.

KAV - and it seems that it will stay that way, since the KIS 6 release candidate builds are working better on my computer.

I have licenses for KAV and NOD, but my work recently got a site license for the corporate McAfee and we are allowed to use it at home. So, right now I am using that. The corporate McAfee runs very light on my system and I am pretty happy with it so far. Plus, the price is right.

I used to use McAfee (garbage - forget it!), next was free AVG (after one of upgrades, it stop working om my system), and I moved to free Avast.

Now, I'm happy!!!

SAV Corporate 10. Has been very reliable and problem-free; nowhere near as bloated as retail NAV.

For the people that use nod32 here, what firewall do most use with it?

ZAPro plus Dlink router. I have never had a problem with NOD32, when I was running my Win98SE system. When I built the new computer, I purchased another license for it, and will continue to have two licences to NOD32.

Outpost, Sygate and Kerio work fine with NOD32, too.

I used KAV for a year or so, but it slowed things down considerably. It's the best AV money can buy, there's no doubt about it, but I need an AV that runs smoothly on my machine, so I decided to give NOD32 a shot and still like it.:)

Beta92

@bellsouth.ne
Use ZoneAlarm Pro, works very well together.:)

Once a bug report I submitted to Agnatium gets a response, I'll be using Outpost, but for now I'll be using Windows Firewall on my laptop

Avast talks, my wife thinks that's cute. For my part, it works well and, best of all, it's free.

I use Nod32 with ZA Pro. Up until a few months ago I used Kerio, and will probably go back when subscription is up.

I use a hardware firewall, two in fact, along with Wall Watcher, Process Guard, and Port Explorer . . . no software firewalls though!

nod so bad

@arcor-ip.net
I use NOD32 with sunbelt kerio.
Previously used Avast with sunbelt kerio.
Both combinations work just fine and don't harm your ressources too much...^^

Running Trend Micro Internet Security 2006 on both the desktop and laptop. We can get 1 year subscriptions through a work program for only $5 a piece. For that price I figured why not . It's been great so far.

And use BitDefender as an on demand occasional scanner just for fun.
