Zonealarm Pro Security Suite - howcome its not listed in the vote options? It works great - highly recommended!
I think it's because the poll was for just AV's not security suites. I figured it out after my Windows OneCare vote.

I would be interested in seeing the NAV/SAV split into separate votes for NAV or SAV. I get the impression from some comments that SAV causes fewer problems than NAV has in the recent past?

That indeed sounds like a good idea. They are like light years apart in almost every respect except for definitions.

I use Nod32 with ZA Pro. Up until a few months ago I used Kerio, and will probably go back when subscription is up.

Over the years I've used Norton's, Mcafee and Nod for at least a year each.
Have tried Avast and AVG. All were very good.
For my use and my system though I use Kav. now.
Runs smoothly, updates several times daily and it does its job. Very happy with it.

BitDefender 9 Standard -- least expensive of the top tier AV's.

NOD32 was my first preference but with NOD32 (and most other paid-for AV's) would legally need four (4) licenses.

With BitDefender 9 Standard needed only three (3) licenses. BitDefender license allows installation on one (1) desktop PC and one (1) portable belonging to the licensee -- noticeable cost savings for initial purchase and renewals.

When I see these AV polls, always curious how many are using AVG and Avast mainly because they are free?

Avast free. I would like to hear from those who voted none why aren't they using an AV. Maybe because they are Linux users, maybe because they think a router is enough.

Routers stop worms, the only viruses any home user should be worrying about.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Routers wont stop you from downloading an infected file. They may protect from port scans and such, but if you request a virus unintentionally, there's a good chance your average home router isnt going to stop you.

Especially when you have kids.

I have been using AntiVir PersonalEdition classic for about a year. I really like the program; however, it does not provide spyware protection which is disappointing (must use the pay version for spyware protection).

I also have BitDefender Free Edition installed for backup on demand scans.

For me KAV and NOD32 are a definite no..

Are the WMF exploit hit we found out that by default KAV DOES NOT scan all file extension. That probably explains why they are so snappy compared to NAV. KAV actually had to patch the product in order to catch that threat. Totally unacceptable.

I dont like NOD32 because it is a sitting duck when it comes to terminating it or deleting its keys files etc. Any AV product nowadays thats wants to call itself an AV product must protect itself from attack.

NAV works great for me. Its a rock solid product and on a decent machine the performance is acceptable.

I like AntiVir as well. It's easy one the resources. Great for older machines. Do you like the new version 7?

Anyone tried ClamAV? Any opinions on it?

I use NOD32 with sunbelt kerio.
Previously used Avast with sunbelt kerio.
Both combinations work just fine and don't harm your ressources too much...^^
