| [TWC] Speed Upgrade Updates
I'd like to keep this thread open only to those who have had their basic service upgraded to the 7Mbit down 512Kbit up service.
So, those who have had their service upgraded, please post your State, City and date it was upgraded. For those who have already posted their information on another thread, please post it again.
What's the point of this? I'm tired of rebooting my modem every night waiting anxiously for the upgrade!
Please, no discussion on this thread--just information!
Thanks, Mr. Anonymous |

| reply to Anxiously Waiting Well, I'm not sure I'd call it an upgrade. Maybe a tweaking of the system I don't know.
Upload hasn't changed. Still consistently tests 355kbps-358kbps but my download has went from ~4700kbps to ~4900kbps. I'm on Earthlink in the new.rr.com (Northeast Wisconsin) market. Anybody else notice slight increases in speed? |

| reply to hobgoblin A 384k upload is sufficient for most people IMHO.
Hob No, its not. First off, people paying for cable are not the average internet users.
In that case, they'd get sub $20 dsl service, just to browse the internet. We cable users pay damn good money ($40++) for out 5mbit down. The upspeed is just ridiculous. I can't send my cousins a photo album at near original resolution via AIM transfer because it takes so bloody long. He has 5mbit down, I have 5mbit down, but sure enough he can only download as fast as what I can give him.
That, along with me having vonage, which already handicaps me when doing other tasks like gaming via xbox live. |

yes they are. How many cable users have you spoken to in your life? I have spoken to tens of thousands and 99% of them are average users.

| hobgoblin, I agree with you. Coming from Verizon Online DSL, 3.0/768 , I see no difference in Upload as Uploading was not my main priority, downloading was. But the upload is bound to increase since Verizon is going to roll out 7.1/768. -- Being Wise Is Not About Being Smart, Its About Making The Correct Choices That Will Affect One's Future.Making The Right Choice, Doesn't Always Mean, Its The Right One. |
