2 edits | Rollout Schedule???
Oops, Please move this under the 16/1 topic.
I was wondering if anyone had seen a rollout schedule... it seems that some areas are receiving this speed update before others. Particularly the areas where there is competition from Verizon, or other cable companies providing faster service for less money. I was told by my local Comcast office that they would be rolling the service out in our area as of today. However where I am located we have not received the speed upgrade. Thanks.

| My source tells me these areas are nexted for the 16/1 speed upgrade testing phase. 1.Sarasota,Fla. 2.Fort Wayne,ID. 3.Howard County,Maryland (a western Baltimore suburb. All of these are FIOS areas. There will be more areas added as time goes by,but they will all be FIOS areas
I know its not what you want to here, but don't look for an official nationwide roll-out until summer 2006. |

| reply to cowticket I'm in favor of a distributed rollout for this, since the upgrade to 8mbps was not exactly fun. And here's a big FU to VZ for not offering FIOS to the capitol of the state that gave them all kinds of breaks here.... -- I wasn't born with enough middle fingers. |

I wish I lived in the area of Chicago that gets served by RCN, sadly I don't so all I have is Comcast. |

| reply to Assault See the thread »comcast bought by time warner ( culver city california?) -- especially the spreadsheet in the 5th post showing who goes where. Note the second and third worksheets in the workbook as well -- for example, showing that Comcast ends up with no customers in Los Angeles after the switches, so I know that I'm going to TW no matter what. |

This is good to know. When does the testing phase start as I am still 6/384k?
BTW, it's Fort Wayne, IN (or Ind). I know; I live there. |

| reply to cowticket There has been a few rumors floating around about speeds going to 10megs download speeds for the silver package and 12megs download for the Gold. I can only say my source hasn't heard about these speeds. Its still planned for 16/1 for Gold and 6000/768 for Silver. I know there are some who still have 4000/384 and i can't tell you anything about them. Its still along time to summer a lot of things can change in that time. |
