| Re: It would be a great day... Lets see how pricing should look...
Current: DSL (1.5 / 384kbps) $15 + $12 (land line) + $ 23 LD package (required by SBC/AT&T for pricing) + taxes/fees/surcharges/unfees
Future: DLS (1.5 / 384kbps) $20 + required AT&T Call Vantage ($30) + 'transport' fee (aka landline fee ) $ 10 + taxes/fees/surcharges/unfees
Pricing works out to be pretty similar after al the dust clears. Main different should be all the regulatory BS (about $10-$15 of fees)

1 edit | Re: It would be a great day... you know I'm putting this in as an example... AT&T just call 300 = $16.00 AT&T Canada Plus = $5.95 = $22.00 Add in a few extra minutes of use, and I'm at $23 pretty easily.
Most of the former SBC discount programs require local+ld
The point I'm trying to make is that AT&T does not want to 'lose' any money by opening up local+ld to VoIP competition. I expect prices to rise after 1year contracts, and a HUGE push for the ADSL2+/VDSL higher speed/rates to be able to able to attempt to compete with cable for speed (and be able to charge more $$$). The possible benefit will be the IPTV, which I don't expect to really do all that well unless they can sell it relatively cheap.

| Re: It would be a great day... I wish our phone service was that cheap. Basic phone service in mid-Michigan with no features and the minimum local call package (required) comes out to about $26.70 a month with fees, taxes, and 911. Add $12.95 plus fees and its just about the same price as Comcast. | |

@verizon.ne | ATT and Verizon were forced to offer 'dry' DSL when their respective mergers were approved. What makes the California case so different? Verizon DSL in Michigan is $5.00 a month more without telephone service.
