Yep, in Folsom. Internet gaming is near impossible. Sometimes service will work fine for 5 or 10 minutes and then lag hell sets in. ComCast is in denial...they suggest that a technician needs to visit my residence to determine my issues (and charge me $$$). |

It's alot smoother in the mornings, but still quite a bit of loss. The tech I spoke to told me it was a load issue. Doesn't seem like it to me at this point.

screw comcast i switched to them from dsl 2 months ago and while webpages download really fast it is horrible for games.some are ok, but the ones that require a good connection (like fighting games) it is basically unplayable as it just likes to freeze for a second every 10-15 seconds. i cant imagine paying the $50 or whatever outrageous amount they want for tehir service. I'm paying $19.99 for 12 months as part of a special and i'm going to cancel tomorrow already |

Yeah Comcast here in East Sac/Rancho has sucked bad the last two weeks...
After going though the same 20m BS with tech support 3 times (you know the: "Have you checked your Browser Cache?" - "Dude we are talking Ping times here and other network happy stuff" - "I know, but can you please clear your internet cache and try again?" - "Sure... *4 clicks later* yeah look at that, still getting 2000-3000 pings from the other side of the cable modem") ... Finally after being put on hold for 10 minutes I get the "We are experiencing some load issues in your area" Which I'm beginning to believe is just a line they spout to get you off the phone...

| I live in Citrus Heights and my service is erratic at best. I ran a couple of speed tests and they ran from 6130-356 to 1265-329. I also have Vonage and have had issues with drops. This is not suprising since my video has it's own issues which they have been working on for a month! By the way I worked for them for 15 years and now work for SureWest. We kick their butts on speeds! |

i would love to get surewest but they dont offer it where i live (fair oaks). With alittle competition, comcast ight actually give a daman and try to fix something too. |

meh I'm in roseville which is surewest territory but we can only get dsl from them which is set at 3meg/768k up. I have had some issues with comcast in the past but no longer seem to be having any problems. |

| I'm Arden/Arcade area and we have surewest's fiber on the pole outside our place.. they STILL refuse to service us (saying that our address isn't ready yet) so yeah comcast is the only usable solution (we're about 1000' too far for sbc dsl) here.
Luckily my pings aren't as bad as dmfan94 but there are times when there is excessive packet loss. Comcast does need to address these issues and fix them soon.

 Here in So.Sac Comcast sucks too.Just started to play online shooter games and the lag and the pings are horrible. Can't wait until Surewest comes in my neighborhood with the fiber, going to drop Comcrap in a heartbeat.
What makes the lag and ping times so bad? If I got a better graphics card will that help the lag? Your help in ping will greatly be appreciated. |

I have not been able to play BF2 online for almost 3 weeks now, pings have been in the 20-2000ms range in a 30 second period. Though it seems that regular surfing seems improved a problem with an interface with a certain att hop, it looks like our ping problems are now within comcast's network:

Lossy, Laggy, Frustrated, and Searching for Options describes my household. South Watt / Almost to Rancho Cordova area. Sometimes the net is smooth, fast and responsive, but here it is on Tuesday night and I'm dropping packets left and right. Anyone know of alternatives? |

i had dsl and gaming was great, i wasnt getting 6 or 8 Mbps downloads on webpages (usually like 2.5-3), and i got (what i thought) was a great deal on comcast HSI. i was like 2-3x the speed for about half the price, why not?
well i just found out why not. now im signing up for dsl again. only thing that sucks is they make you sign a contract and pay for a modem again (even tho it's free after rebate)
UPloads were much faster on dsl too. you run an upload test and it shows 300-500 up, but if you try to transfer a file via AIM, you can see it start off like that and then pretty soon it's going at like 30-50. It's like they make it seem fast just for the tests.
i also switched from dish to cable at the same time as a part of their deal and one of my cable boxes freezes about 3 times a day, each time requiring me to pull ot the power cord and then wait 10 minutes for everything to update again. comcast is just garbage all around. My bill is $130 a month (WITH the discount) and this is the service I get, it's completely unacceptable. |

SureWest IS in South Sacramento. Or, more specifically, in Elk Grove, and even more specifically, they are servicing pretty much only Laguna West AND areas south of 99. As for the neighborhoods in between the two freeways, not that I know of. Oh how I wish for the days of 20Mbit/sec...*salivate* |

Same here, South Watt/almost Rancho Cordova area. I've been on the official Comcast forums complaining about my service. For me it all started on March 9th. Many others on a thread we have going have also come forth to say it started for them on March 9th.
I've had 2 techs come out one said I was fine and replaced the modem with a RCA DCM425C and another tech came by to relocate my cable outlet to another room. He said my signal was excellent from my house to the street box. Go figure.
I have been getting intermittent slow speeds and seriously high pings. I mainly use my HSI for gaming, BF2 and Planetside. I recently took a screenie of my ping hitting 18781 --- now that can't be good. I have several tracerts and ping logs documented showing how bad this service has gotten since March 9th.
Anyways, still trying to figure out what to do.
