| Comcast keeps calling me
Hey,
I live in Schaumburg, IL and I have Comcast for my standard cable and high-speed internet. This past Friday, after work, my son told me that Comcast called and, when he told them he wasn't me (or my wife), they asked for a better time to call back. I figured it was them trying to sell a service or something. I was gone most of the weekend and noticed that they called early on Saturday morning, and I didn't think much of it. Then I noticed from the caller ID that they called twice today. It's a local area code and they never leave a message on the answering machine. I'm starting to wonder if there is another reason why they keep calling besides trying to hawk their products.
Anybody else getting calls from Comcast lately? I tried calling the office tonight but they were closed, so I'll attempt again tomorrow. I'm just curious, because I don't recall them doing this before.

| I forgot to mention in the last post that, when I called back the number that had been calling my house, I got a voice recording for the Comcast sales department. This makes it seem like it's just a telemarketer, but I'm just puzzled by the persistence of the calls.
Then again, since when are salesmen not persistent? :-P |

| I'd guess that they're trying to sell me their new digital voice (I think?) service. I got a promotional flyer in the mail from them on Friday or Saturday.
I don't have digital cable or their digital phone service, but those aren't all that new and they've never really bugged me over the phone about those that I can recall. |

Tell them they are NOT to call you again like this: "Put me on your DO NOT CALL list. Is that understood?" then when they say yes then say "Also I would like a written policy of your Do Not Call List"
I think if they say no you can sue them. They can telemarket you if you are doing business with them but if you tell them not to call you they can't.
You may need to give them your address if the sales person doesn't have it (for the written DNC policy).

actually i doubt its a salesman. at least around here *69 wont give you the sales department if its sales. just a recording with nothing about sales. |

With SunRocket, you can put certain #'s in the block list
so when they call, it rings busy to them.

Even a company you have a "relationship" with (such as Comcast if you have service from them) must respect a "do not call" request. Tell them to leave you alone, to put your number(s) on their don't call list, and that you will file a complaint if they call again. They'll try to talk you out of it but stand firm. It's the only way around that national DNC list loophole. |

Is this really that hard for you to take care of? It is pretty simple, call Comcast or email and tell them to not solicit you without your consent. Problem solved, case closed. Why is this such a big show stopping topic? |

Why Comcast is calling
They are calling to sell you Comcast Telephone service. They called me yesterday at 6pm.
I did speak with them and I asked them what the pricing was...$39.95 for "unlimited" local and LD. I told them sorry I already had AT&T CV for $29.95. She responded by asking me who I had internet service with and I said "YOU! and BellSouth DSL". She said "BellSouth & us?", I said "yes, you are calling me on my ATT CV number in fact".
She said "Thank You" and hung up without saying another word. No counters. I was expecting the "triple play" discount offer but none came.
Quickest sales call I have ever had. |

Yup! Being a jerk will get you everywhere in this country. 
Simply call comcast and ask you not to market you, it's very simple. The CAE will simply add codes to your account. You can ask to opt out of phone calls, mailers, bill inserts, and door to door solicitation.
This howle "Put me on your DO NOT CALL list, is that understood?" makes you sound like a pompass a*s.. If I were a csr on the other side, I'd drop your call if you were condensending to me The CSRs don't deserve your abuse and they certainly don't make the rules, Is that UNDERSTOOD? |

And if you were telemarketing me and hung up on me after I asked you to put me on your do not call list I would sue you.
I believe it is a $500 fine if they tell you "no" to putting a number on their do not call list. Hanging up to me is no, I'm not sure legally if it is but if it is I would sue you.
