Capping Discussion Here Only - Part 7The other one was getting too long, so here's a new thread.
I've created this thread and made it sticky so it always stays on top.
ALL cap discussions from here on out will be contained in this one thread.
If you want to know why you were capped, here. If you want to know how to not get capped, here. If you want to complain about the OOL caps and how horrible they are, here. If you want to defend the caps, here.
If you want to discuss this thread policy, not here. Send me an IM and I'll be happy to discuss it.
I promise you I am not trying to stifle discussion of the subject (I think that's pretty clear from my actions to date). I am just trying to restore sanity to this forum by keeping this all in one place, so it doesn't overtake everything else.
Please post everything related to the new OOL capping procedure in this thread.
Thank you. Lex |

Please, Lex, can't we just let this thing die? The same old stuff over and over again. |

Don't read this thread, I don't It still comes up all the time and I'd rather it be here than have numerous threads throughout the forum. I'm also surprised to see that this topic is well over 3 years old. Time flies. |

Are there still caps with the boost service? They advertise web hosting. |

I know why the thread is here and it sure cuts down on the mod time to consolidate/lock dupe threads.
It is just that there is nothing new that has not been said 100 times before. It also has turned into a stage for posters that post stuff that is completely OT. |

figures What if someone had a really popular website and pointed the domain to their home computer, I guess they'd be capped quickly. |

From skimming thru these 6 threads for the past couple days it seems that there's no definitive answer to this problem. I saw alot of things mentioned that the cap kicks in with the amount of time your uploading and not the amount of gigs your uploading. How many gigs a month are most of you uploading without getting capped? Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of speed limits to setup with a bandwidth manager program, or scheduler that's built into some torrent programs, aka: alternating the hours and days that your uploading, does limiting the speed from 120 to 50 or something lower actually do anything to prevent the cap.
Thanks for any help. |

unfortunately, that is top secret for CV, people are on the right track, but can only speculate as far as what the exact guidelines are...truth is, the tech support guy on the other end does not even know, only the very few that call you back to uncap.... |

No need to. If you don't understand it, just NM. |

Capping probably affects 1% of the OOL customers. You can use your upload just don't expect to upload for 24+ hours non-stop at max upload speed. I upload a lot but I have the max upload at 50KB. Capping is really no big deal...don't see why this thread is still around. |

because CV get new customers. and how annoying it would be when the new B`s start making threads left and right about why their upload is so slow. |

It's a non-issue for most people. Don't worry about it, just use your connection the way you want in a legal, courteous, and reasonable manner. If you get capped, just call up and get uncapped.
Look at this thread:
7 days, 21 posts (5 from one person), 0 people reported being capped. |

This particular thread has been going of for well over three years and the number of posts can not be numbered, they are as the stars in the sky or grains of sand on all of the beaches of the world. I wonder of Cablevision is holding off on the caps until after New Jersey decides how to franchise cable TV. |

Jaa is talking about this thread alone. The other thread (dont twist my words around) had evry little people complaining of caps just alot of useless cv bashing.

I came here because of Cablevision applying the secret cap to my service and the heavy handed Cablevision uncapping process. |
