| Re: Take your hispeed internet wherever you go, thanks to Rogers Fido had been testing this service for months before Rogers bought them; so that's probably where Rogers got the technology from. Fido's website said the maximum speed was 2Mbps, Rogers website only says it's 25x faster than dial-up, and faster than hi-speed lite (1Mbps). Since Fido was testing it before Rogers bought them, I assume it operates over the cell phone network.
Since Bell recently started offering Ev-DO on their cell phones (2.4Mbps), that should encourage Rogers to step up their UMTS development, which should mean 5-6Mbps, with nothing more than a cell phone or a pc card. Last I heard Rogers was going to start trials for UMTS this fall. | |
