the 911 services work well for some of you because you have enhanced e-911 service which means your local PSAP (the place that takes 911 calls) will accept those calls.
Some places do not have a PSAP that will take those calls (why exactly this is vonages fault that they wont take them is beyond me).
my 911 always works because I understand that if I have a power outage or my internet service goes dark, I have NO 911 at all... as a result I have a POTS line through my local ILEC that I can alway make calls on (as well as fax through... ever tried faxing with VoIP? not always a good experience). or I (more commonly) I use my Cell phone. I never would think to call 911 from my VoIP phone and my Kids have been taught which phone to use if they need to call 911. This really should be a non-issue. Its the customers responsibility to make sure they can make 911 calls, not a VoIP providers. (but thats just my own opinion) |
