| reply to jjoshua Lots of providers blocked Bitorrent. The solution there are now a number of packages that encrypt torrents.
I suspect in a year or so we are likely to start seing VOIP providers which encrypt their traffic. It makes it semi unblockable. You could block all encrypted traffic but that would likely not go over well. The other alternative (and why it doesn't effect bittorrent) is block a specific IP address (or block of IP addresses) completely. This would be very touch for VOIP providers to deal with, but doesn't effect Bittorrent (well I suppose you could just block all IP addresses, but somebody might notice the stupidity of such a move within senior managment when they have no customers left). |
