Re: Easy answer:

When my contract comes up for renewal, I'll have to re-evaluate it.

DSL-Extreme - why don't you offer another set of DNS servers i.e. one used by DHCP for your 'lookup' / 404 killer, and one for those that do not want it?

The ONLY thing that will stop this is them losing subscribers over it. Will you be the first to cancel over this?
i will be one of the first people to change if anything else comes up that can't easily be bypassed by using another isp dns address. Only reason i am saying this is i am on price guarantee for life so i would give that up if they started doing more changes that would be affect me

Hehe - I have my Firewall block all references to doubleclick

The last time this issue popped up was with Verisign, if I'm not mistaken, where they decided that it was in everyones best interest to hit a search engine instead of a 404 error, and redirected all 404 traffic.

George, Ari, there are tools such as Google toolbars, MSN toolbars, etc. Why do you need this redirect, and why did you not notify your subscribers?

A little "proggy" called change your DNS servers to something other than what the ISP is giving out.

Or, use there opt out "feature".
opt out don't work, and i shouldn't have to use someone else dns address just to avoid this problem, sounds like this company going downhill fast
