Re: Rip = Not A Rip

Broadband access from Qwest (DSL) or COX (cable) will run you $50+ per month. $30 / month and I can leave my house.

I agree That I won't be bringing the iMac to the Devil's Martini, but surfing while the wife is shopping at Fashion Square, hmmmm. Not a bad plan!

I am also on call some weeks. It would be great to connect without having to drive to the office . Get in , fix it quick and get on with the weekend.

Re: Rip

Scottsdale for the most part is mainly for the rich. if this were anywhere else it would probably be free. if you can give 30 sites free why not give all free?

You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth

Most people would always want a free ride, the question is if it's worth the money?

Like you said if they provide decent speed's and coverage why not?

These citywide WiFi networks are mostly targeted for to outsider's or a way for the state to earn profits from visitors who use there networks. That way they can use that money to fund more public projects.

If the service is free then awesome if I just need in to put some extra cash sure, but if I need to put in a good amount of cash for something that's not worth it then no.

It's like going to the store and see something you want, but the price tag is 40 dollars. You figured it's not worth it, so you just walk past it and don't buy it. Simple as that.

A cooperation which has money to spare and actually uses it to benefit users instead of there own cooperate needs is a gift. Not something you deserve. I sure hope most people will remember that.

WTF? Google is fitting the bill(ads) for S.F. wireless.
Taxpayers aren't paying for it.
You're right... a private company can offer access for free, just like a $10+ bln company can... Why is it that everything must be free or it's not right? The price is good if they can provide good bandwidth and coverage....

Hey Scottsdale maybe you should take a lessons from Frisco's wi fi plan which sounds so much better now when compared to your own plan.
because the Taxpayers""/Publicly-Owned Companies/Privately-Owned Companies/any OPEN WAP"" should support free broadband for everyone..... PLEASE!

Just because a word has an S in it doesn't mean it needs an apostrophe too.
