Main boxen is Athlon 64 FX-60 dual core, @ 2.6 GHZ.
Also, some 5, or 6, (depending on electricity bills from previous month) various other Athlon single core, of lesser Horse Power. The FX-60 runs 24/7/365.

Had been running an Opteron 146.
One benefit of having a Socket 939 motherboard was that I could interchange a dual core Opteron 175 which I did today.
A relatively cheap way to get a lot more processing power.

Edit: Funny thing, I realized after posting this that I didn't have Hyperthreading on the whole time! Now that I do, I've noticed something strange, but I'll save that for another thread.

Getting the itch to start building a multi-core or multi-processor system and switching to Vista, preferably something with PCI Express. Also need to update my TV card / software to something that will be Vista / digital / HD ready. Any suggestions for a cost-efficient, but smokin' system would be most welcome. |
