1 edit | reply to KawiG5 I'm trying to get an AMD Athlon XP running but I'm so limited on space. To take care of the space problem I need a KVM switch but don't know which one is good. I'm just hoping to get the Athlon crunching ASAP.
I also want to say that I'm amazed on how this thread is still going. |

| reply to KawiG5 My almost brand new Athlon 64 Dual Core (you forgot this one and you forgot the new Intel core and core 2 chips) 4800+ Toledo running at a conservative but safe overclock of 2.6 Ghz, with 2 GB of high perf/low latency RAM. I finally *almost* have a dream system for the first time in my life, sure, not the hottest, but for me, a dream. I just need a real motherboard and a PCI-Express video card for it, since my ASUS A8V Del is NOT a real motherboard IMHO...
I run folding too on this, they run happily just fine beside each other! Too bad I can't afford a new Quad Core, i could at least triple my count! -- I don't claim to be a genius. Sure, I used to be one of those dorks, but I lost my IQ, so forgive me my occasional addled mistake! At least I admit to my errors, which are frequent, I am old... God save America! |

1 edit | reply to KawiG5 Updated: I added some new firepower recently. My primary desktop is now an Intel Core 2 Extreme but I haven't worked on overclocking yet. I had lost a power-supply in one of the P4 3.06s but its back on line now too.
The total is now: P3 1.4G P4 2.6G/400 @ 2.91G P4 3.06G/533 @ 3.2G P4 3.06G/533 @ 3.4G X6800 2.93/1066 @ 3.2G/1162
I'm using Vista (64 bit) with VirtualPC 2007 (Beta) to host XPSP2 (32 bit) to not lose "backwards compatibility".
With many new processors being 64-bit and multi-core you'd think UD would want to take advantage and release updated software
Edit: I'm now OC'ing the new cruncher slightly |
