It sounds like a router issue, actually. How certain are you that the port forwarding/DMZ is setup properly?
Try plugging the box directly into the DSL modem and setting it up with the static IPs or set it up for DHCP and then see if you can get to it.
Also verify the machine running sshd isn't firewalling port 22.

Victorville, CA | Did than. Direct to modem, IP assigned on server, static. Remote maching is coming from provider; server is from provider, remote & server connect just fine on my Verizon line. Weird |

| So it's not the router? Try changing the DSLX firewall tool to something else, wait 15 minutes, then set it back to "off" and see if that helps.
