Would you consider bloat as a problem? I don't. My laptop cruises right along with ALOT of installed and running apps.
Good lord, 79 running proceses? That's insane. I thought I had too many with 41. Just because you can run a lot doesn't mean you should.
Actually that is good example of a multitaskers computer. If ya notice those aren't services but programs he uses often all loaded into memory. So when one of those programs are called to run it is instant, no load time.

Me, I do a little surfin' and gaming, little multitasking, so I have 17 processes and loads of ram free...

Real player almost always times out in streaming media for me.
Playing the same in Windows media player no problems, or any other besides quick time.
All payers have the latest update.
Should you ever make the mistake of subscribing to real super pass, and wish to cancel good luck.
Real started charging my account again, 2 months after I received there cancellation letter.
5 phone calls and letter to every address I could find got my money back, Anybody with out a lot of free time would have given up.
Real is still underhanded

Sometimes it's at 83. Since this is MUCH more than "just a laptop", and it has the cojones to do this daily, there is no problem.

You see, I have TV shows set to record(yeah, its a TV/DVR), the Remote needs a couple things active too(Drivers, IR reciever and drivers for it).

As joekuz stated, when loaded into memory, things happen instantly. No need to go enable anything or wait to load - it's already there ready to rock(

Actually, I normally have 46 running at startup... Opening 40 more programs had no adverse effect that I could see.
Back to the topic at hand, I may try the new RealPlayer as it's been a few years since I've used it. There's always True Image (the ultimate uninstaller) in case I don't like it...

[EDIT] Damn, I hate the free RealPlayer! It's full of ads and other useless crap!
I'll stick with Rhapsody25... Hmmm... Where's my TI boot CD?

Every time I went to play the included radio, I'd have to sit through a video selling something... Rhapsody25 has no such annoyances and I get the free 25 songs a month too! (over a million to choose from.) All the radio stations in Rhasody seem to be at least 128kb/s, too. I love the 60's station and if you don't like what's playing you just hit stop, hit play again and you instantly get a new tune.

Because it loads stuff we don't want and attempts to make everything run through Real Player.
everything he said.

I had a MAJOR issue with Winamp and Real Player.. everytime I would tell Real Player to not play MP3's and I switch it over to Winamp, it seems everyday I was changing it back to Winamp.

my best thing was to not install it period.

I (and several other Rhapsody users) encountered that
horrible tech support of theirs when Rhapsody 3.0
first came out several months ago.

It seemed like they rushed out the new version too
quickly, and many users had problems.

The last time I installed it, though, I had very
little trouble with it. The radio tuner is one of
the best of any of the subscription based music
download services.
