How it earned it's hated reputation. Going online without permission, installing other junk, doing things it shouldn't, just does a whole bunch of things behind the scenes that get annoying, etc. Was listed as Spyware for a while, don't know if it still is, I doubt it, nowadays you can pay to be unlisted!
