| [VPN] Slow VPN speeds (wired or wireless) using WRT54GX4
I have a WRT54GX4 Linksys router that works well for me as a wireless access point and switch except for VPN access to my corporate network.
I can connect OK, but my speed tests are substantially slower through the VPN than direct. This is true for either wireless or wired connections to the router.
I typically see 4.2 Mbit/s down and 800 kbit/s up when I do speed tests through my ISP. If I VPN to my corporate network - which has a DS3 - I am only seeing speeds in the 220 kbit/s down and 230 kbit/s up range.
As a test, I bypassed the router completely and connected directly to my cable modem. I saw the typical 4.2 Mbit/s down and 850 kbit/s up speed when I did the speed test directly through my ISP. When I turned on the VPN connection to my corporate network and reran the test I got 3.9 Mbit/s down and 2.1 Mbit/s up. I'm not sure why the uplink speed jumped up so much but the good high downlink speed shows that there's something going on with the WRT54GX4 router.
Any ideas? Any config settings I can tweak in the router?
Thanks,

| Quick question, what tool are you using to do your speed tests?
On the "basic setup page" on your router, one of the hyperlink choices should allow you to change the router settings (can't recall off hand because I haven't ran a linksys in so long).

| Broadband Reports.com of course
The test were all done through the same server in Los Angeles.
I should also clarify that I'm not looking for just any config settings that can be changed - I know there are many. I intended that to mean configuration settings that would specifically affect VPN operation.
