Dear Insight customer,
For the past two weeks we have been doing maintenance on our system in advance of upgrading your Insight Broadband service. This free upgrade will enhance your Webmail experience, making it easier to use and providing you with more options such as creating folders, importing/exporting email addresses to your address book, new search options for messages and creating personalized signatures. It will also provide greater flexibility for creating email filters for you and your family.
We are now prepared to upgrade our email servers on or about April 25th, 2006. We do not anticipate that this process will interrupt your service, and we have taken every precaution to preserve your current personal email settings.
However, to ensure that you have immediate access to all of your existing emails during the upgrade, we recommend that you take the precaution of backing up your email to your computer. This is a simple process using your email client. If you have Outlook Express please visit »help.insightbb.com and select the Outlook Express tab for step-by-step instructions on how to download your email to your computer. If you use another email client, please refer to your email client instructions and use the same server settings where appropriate.
If you have additional questions, you may reference the FAQ located on our help site at »www.insightbb.com/images/help/ne···_FAQ.pdf. We hope you will enjoy your new features, provided at no additional cost, and we thank you for using Insight Broadband as your high-speed Internet provider.

| reply to fbelcher Thanks for the info fbelcher .
Looks like services are moving after users. This probably explains the big push to get everyone on DHCP a while back too. I had assumed they were doing that to get a handle on DNS abuse, not to make packing up easier =) -- Sitting here like a loaded gun, Waiting to go off |

| reply to fbelcher I got the notice in regards to email. While I'm sure many people will find that information positive. I could care less honestly. If it's not speed related then I'm not all that interested.
Either way it is nice to see notice being given. Many ISP and online companies still don't have a clue about this concept. My Blog provider being one of them. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics My BLOG ZoneAlarm Help |

| reply to fbelcher Anyone in Evansville care to comment on the change in backbones? I haven't seen any BGP changes so I suspect you should see that you're in a new netblock altogether with a new IP etc. -- Sitting here like a loaded gun, Waiting to go off |

| reply to fbelcher Yep just received mine about the network maintence.
Could this be that their turning away from the AT&T backbone and going with sprint and this is what the network maintence is for seeing as how they want us to reset our cable modems to get the new ip from sprint? |

| said by ComTech6 :The transition from the AT&T backbone to the new one will be complete by May 1, 2006 Is this supposed to be a change for the better or ? Just curious why Insight is dumping AT&T I guess. I'm alittle nervous of the change cause my service has been so good and I need good solid service since I have VOIP and I guess I'm spoiled.
I know alot of people complain about Insight BB and issues , but I have had a real good ride since the demise of @home and I hope that continues. My only 2 complaints would be the high price of the plus tier and lack of OnDemand Sports Packages.
Sorry to get off topic there , back to the thread -- Broadcasting The Classic Hits 24/7 SauceMaster Radio!!!! |

There could be plenty of reasons why insight is getting rid of AT&T and going with some other backbone.
I see it as a good thing cause finally insight can get away from paying so much to AT&T for their backbone and they found a cheaper deal with Sprints which could lead to speed upgrades that won't cost insight alot like it did with AT&T and it might solve alot of the problems for some users that are getting poor service.
I'm sure thats what is up. |

| reply to fbelcher Why should this be seen as a bad thing? Do real want Insight getting your backend service from their competition? Now that won't be an issue. And we shouldn't have to worry about our service being degraded do to AT&T being the backend provider. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics My BLOG ZoneAlarm Help |

I'm alittle nervous of the change cause my service has been so good and I need good solid service since I have VOIP and I guess I'm spoiled. Your VOIP will most likely function just fine. Sprint is a solid provider.
As for the reason for the change, I suspect it's IPTV. AT&T is now selling IPTV, at least in this market, and competing directly with Insight in their primary service market, television.
Insight has little choice but to not partner with their own competition. -- Sitting here like a loaded gun, Waiting to go off |

In regards to any speed upgrades. I'm still not getting my hopes up on that one. Yes maybe once the network gets switched over to the new backbone provider. We might see some increase take place. But we have to keep in mind that in many areas Insight services. There isn't really a competitive reason to start offering higher speeds. Which has been the problem for many years now. If AT&T ( SBC ), Verizon and others would start actually offering their newer services in Illinois and other parts of Insight territory. You would in fact see a much quicker rollout of speed increases. -- Test Your Security Cable Diagnostics My BLOG ZoneAlarm Help |
