I'm not trolling anybody. You posted your opinion and I countered it with my own. If debating something bothers you this much, maybe you shouldn't post to begin with.

Please don't clog this topic with your personal BS. We're trying to talk about Best Buy, not your feelings about me.
Do you need some Johnsons "no more tears" shampoo and a bottle of mydol and a box of tampons? Signmeuptoo, you complain about removed just stating his own opinions. Why? You spout off constantly about some of the most hair brained things I have ever read about.

Before you go attacking a fine upstanding member of the community that is DSLR, take a look at your own actions to make sure you aren't guilty of the same things.

Sorry, I am leaving this thread because I see that removed is trying to provoke me. I had to block him a little ways back, and I see someone here has ignored my desires and has copied his statements for me to see. Rather than stay here and see them, I am leaving, because I am tired of his trolling, I never see him in any forum helping anyone but just trolling, sorry guys, I have to leave this thread now.

I totally understand. I went through the Earthlink crap a few years ago when it was Mindspring. At the time Mindspring had their shit together and had one Hell of a great customer service department. All that went to Hell when Earthlink bought them out. My solution? I dumped them 2 months later.

We can all bitch and complain about the services we get. Whether it be Earthlink, Bellsouth, Comcast, or whoever. The bottom line is this. If you think you're getting screwed. Dump the service! Don't wait for stupid answers from whatever company your dealing with. Dump them and move on.

As an example: I was with a well known gas supplier for several years. I was paying X amount that was locked in. I get a notice to continue for next year at a price almost 100% higher to lock in. Not going to happen. I realize the costs have gone up, but before I do anything, I search for better prices. I find a supplier that is only 25% higher. I lock it in. Now I get notices from the previous supplier begging me to come back at a substancial reduction in rates. Bullshit! If you wanted me as a customer you wouldn't have tried to screw me in the first place.

So what's my point, you ask?

We all make choices. We have the right to change those choices. If we make a bad choice should we sue? Hell No!

Unfortunatly some people make lots of bad choices. Then they feel it's their right to sue because of their owm stupidity.

Again, what's my point? If you choose a company for services rendered and you're not happy with those services, you do have a choice. You can keep the service and bitch like Hell when you have problems and listen to that companies BS about your problem. Or option B. Tell them to kiss your ass and find someone else.

Option A has never been an option to me. You can listen to all their B.S. and promices, but in the end you're still screwed.

Good grief! I'm rambling here. Help!

We need a modern days consumer advocate like some kind of hip tatooed Ralph Nader who takes on these shops by entraping them and then suiing them, by using tactics like you did to catch them in the act. They could also plant survelance equipment in the computers to record what is said while they are being worked on, heh heh.

I could see Best Buy finally being sued by a class action lawsuit and being brought down to their evil knees and subsequently going under. Then seeing an honest vendor take their place, forever knowing that it could be them next!
Wow, what a suggestion. Are you seriously suggesting that we clog up our courts with even more frivolous bullshit just because you don't like a store?

I feel sorry for your kid(s? ) and anyone else you preach this to.

America needs to start fighting for her rights again. If we can find great minds like the two guys that gave us google (I just read a cool article about them) we can find some visionary to be a great and profitable consumer advocate.
Please don't insult my country. Our courts were set up so that people could solve genuine disputes. You want to go out and sue Best Buy just because the employees didn't treat you nicely?

Boo-freakin'-hoo. I'm disappointed that you, at 50-someodd years of age, can't seem to grasp that people won't always be nice and helpful.

Some people are smart.
Others are dumb.

Some people want to help you.
Others want to screw you over.

Some people know what they're talking about.
Others do not.

And you genuinely think that a lawsuit will fix that? That a lawsuit will make everyone be fair and helpful? Wow.

Hey, if Firestone got caught in the act, so should Best Buy/Geek Jerks (err, geek squad). I'd LOVE to sue them.
Firestone made a product that put peoples' lives in danger, whereas a kid at Best Buy sold you a warranty you didn't need.

How dare you suggest that these are in any way similar? The nerve!

I'll never forget the crappy attitude of the BB employees back in Ithaca when I lived there up until last year. Especially the jerk squad idiots. I caught them twice making fun of me behind my back, only for me to put them in their place for being total nimrods. Both times it felt good, too, very vindicating.

You find better competance at Rat Shack than BB.
Wow? Some people will be nice to you, others will not. Be a man and suck it up; in life some people will make fun of you no matter what.
I have to agree, 100%.

There ARE a lot of "sue happy" folks in personal injury and some other areas, however, USA consumers have been very much like cattle when it comes to shopping and product disappointment. We certainly ARE NOT sue happy in THAT area, and it is time for US consumers to start forcing retailers, merchants, dealers, and manufacturers to halt all of their deceptive and corrupt practices.

One good example is Earthlink. Anyone who has, in the last 5 years, gone through an Earthlink DSL setup hassle like me will tell you how underhanded they can be. 6 months of hassle before they had me running, while it cost ME money, and then, no more than 1 month later, and they cancled my service without telling me or showing any courtesy until I managed to get BBD cable through TW/ELNK so I could keep my email addy. Now that I have gmail I don't care any more.

Honestly it really IS time for a huge consumer movement to start.

I'm not a modern day Ralph Nader. Nor do I wish to go around the country looking for EXCUSES to sue. There's way too many sue happy people in this country as it is. That's why I strongly advocate a "Loser pays all" bill.

The point of my recent and past posts were simply to show the ineptness and down right "stupidity" of the Geek Squad.
I made a point that is well documented. That doesn't mean I'm going to jump on the Sue Wagon that's plagued this nation. I'm not one to sue because of stupidity.

I leave that up to "Stupid People". Those just looking for a reason to screw someone.

The Geek Squad and others like them are stupid. They just follow the rules set forth for them. Their only problem is that they're pussies and afraid to stand up for the truth. They do what's told of them.

Hey man no need to personally insult her. GS like any other company has its shares of smart techs and dumb techs. Furthermore let me tell you that the entire company was not pirating Winternals software, certain select employees were and they got busted. In two and a half years w/ the company I've never seen a Winternals program. Granted my time w/ GS is nearing its end, but my experiences have been both good and bad and I believe that not every person who works at GS is as bad as some of the posts we've seen here.

I posted about the ineptness of the "Geek Squad" a while back. I won't dig into the archives but here's a brief overview. It was about a year or so ago.

A friend in the neighborhood had purchased a new PC from the company the "Geek Squad" is associated with. We all know who they are. Anyway she calls me and says her 3 month old "New PC" won't turn on. Since I'm the neighborhood "Geek Squad" I go over to check it out.

I push the power button. Nada, zilch. I open the case and find the power switch connector was loose. Push it back in and the PC started up. She thanks me very much.

Now being the evil SOB that I am, I pull the connector off. I tell her that since the PC is under warranty, and just for shits and giggles, lets take it to the "Geek Squad". The store was only a mile away.

So we bring the PC in and tell them the problem. The guy at the counter says it's going to take a while to check it out. No problem we say. We'll just do a little shopping.

About 45 minutes later I went over to the repair window to check. "Yes sir. we've checked the PC out and unfortunately the hard drive has failed. The good news is that the PC is under warranty. The bad news is that we have to order a new HD from the manufacturer".

I ask him if he had opened the case to check to see if it might be another problem. He said that wasn't necessary. They used the latest diagnostic equipment to check these type of problems.

I said just for the Hell of it open the case. After some argument he complied. I pointed out the disconnected power switch and politely ask him to reconnect it. Well LO and Behold. It powered up.

My friend looked at me and I winked at her. I looked at the dumb ass behind the counter and told him he was an idiot. Next time check all your bases and not what your Dumb Ass company tells you.

We walked away smiling like Hell. With my backed turned I could still feel this "GEEK SQUAD" member flipping me off.

I've had many CG victims ask me about their problems and tell me their terror stories and the money spent when the resolution was something very simple....

The bad hard drive or bad motherboard seems to be a "party line" which ends up costing many hundreds of dollars. It's unfortunate that there are organizations out there that will exploit consumers and that there are large corporations such as Best Buy that will associate with them.

People need to wake up or otherwise pay for nothing. Unfortunate part is that there are not many outlets for educating the population.....

Exactly. But what do you expect when these Companies hire little wanna be street thugs for a job!? I mean come on, a dope headed wannabe gang banger that speaks in Ebonics is not exactly a prime employee to hire regardless of what his/her knowledge is. These kinds of kids have no moral and could care less about anything but scoring them some $$$ to use to score something else later on. But I guess have to look at it from the other way around, the amount BB pays BS to do this prolly isn't enough but to get ppl like I just mentioned, instead of a proper professionally looking and acting tech.

I just happened to be in a best buy and some chick was in their buying memory, I overheard the conversation, she asked if a 512 was better than a 1gb.

Ok, she was blonde, she get's a pass. Anyway she asks if it's "easy to put in" or "should I have your experts do it?"

The dork, said, "Uhm, if you have to ask, then it's better to let us do it, because you have to disasemble the computer and remove the power supply and hard drive."

Then she said, "Dell said it just plugs in, but I guess you guys know what your talking about, how much to install it?"

Dork says, "yeah, $39.95 if you bring the computer to us her in the store, or $69.95 if we go to your home"

I am of the opinion you get what you pay for, and if people are willing to pay for this service, they will gladly hand their money over and never realize they are getting shafted.

Well many of the GS Techs may know what they are doing they MUST follow "Party Line" which basically is "Get as much cash from the customer as possible".

Take as much time to fix as you can.
Sell them "un-needed" software/hardware.

I know how it can be done, I did it 3 different ways in case they figured out one way they wouldn't get the other 3. I did it at 2 software levels + a hardware level I just thought it was funny Geeksqueeks said it was impossible to do unless she paid for this special software that was like $150 or something like that, not even sure of the exact parts with it anymore now.
