The earlier iterations of these kinds of services were clunky and slow (XDrive comes to mind)
The web based interfaces were not robust and prone to hangs. Most of the early providers are gone today, so there is some questions on the viability of the business model.
Of course Google would ad you to death as you surf your own "drive".
As far as FTP goes, they could simply load an iSCSI based driver on your PC and it would be a drive letter like any other.
I would like to see this get pushed out if for anything, to get providers to boost upload speeds. |
