I live in Passaic County, and just like it was with Optimum Online, we are always the last ones to come online. The reason is simple: if you look at the average income it is much lower than in Bergen o Morris, we may be highly populated but because so many town have lots of poor people, there is no incentive for the companies to come here. How many people can afford in Paterson $50 of internet access. |

| I always chuckle when someone doesn't have a service they want invoking the "they are the last one" response. I see it all the time in the OOL forum. In the OOL forum, most changes are released to parts of Long Island where CV HQ is located. Once someone on LI has it, the "We're gonna be the last ones" posts start to roll in with folks from each and every non-Long Island area claiming they will be last.
And the "poor people" line is always used too. I don't know when Haledon got OOL, but I only had OOL availability in Aug 2001, long after a good portion of the OOL area had service. DSL didn't become available to me until years after that. I'm the last street on the CO with the street behind me the last street on a different CO. I just got lucky with FIOS and have had it a few months now.
FIOS is a pretty significant upgrade to the CO so there's a lot of work in the CO that needs to be done along with wiring. I don't honestly think there's a real emphasis on household income just because the lower package is less expensive then OOL is right now so there's actually a pretty big benefit to getting to those that would lower their service if they could pay less.
Only 1 area can be FIRST and only 1 area can be LAST so everything is in somewhere in between. -- Tweaked your connection? | Mail Parse | Speed Converter |
