Network wide virus/adware scanning

Hey guys, I just recently setup a server on my home network as a file server and I was wondering what else I might be able to do with it.

Is there any anti-virus/malware software that I could run on it, and use it to protect my other computers on the network?

Could I set it up as the central mailserver and have it filter out most of the spam?

What products (if any) should I be looking at?

Thanks,

Re: Network wide virus/adware scanning

You can push out Windows patches and AV updates from the server. The advantage is that the PCs do not access the Internet connection simultaneously and suck the connection dry.
Symantec Corporate Edition 10 is one application I would try.

What I want to do is have all of the computers virus protecting by the server. I'm only worried about getting viruses from the internet, I don't need scanning on the individual computers.

I want something that filters all of my internet content before it serves it to the computers on the network. It would be nice if it also filtered spam.

I think Mcafee spam killer would work for email, because it sets up a server that all of the email clients on the different computers could access to download the email once it has been filtered.

I don't know how one would go about active-x filtering and java though.

Re: Network wide virus/adware scanning

In my view the most suitable product for your needs would be F-Secure Anti-Virus™ Small Business Suite
