and we will continue to exercise fair use because it is Gurenteed to us via US Copyright law. and since that law is older then the DMCA fair use is grandfathered in and cant be removed unless amended.

I'm pretty sure that 'fair use' laws applied to non-digital media though. UNFORTUNATELY, the current corporate structure and all other entities to which it bribes (aka our adminstration) will probably see it as such and take no notice to the consumer.

It seems like were going back in time, when major companies joined to become super-corporations. They were broken up long ago, will we see this again? Probably not untill 2010 at least (taking into acount the time between now and getting a new, better adminstration, replacing all these greedy SoBs in FCC and other areas, and the time the courts take).

Shouldn't you be pledging allegiance to this flag instead?

So I either agree with you or I'm a commie? There's a false dichotomy for you.

Oh, and the 1950s called, they want their red scare back.

We nothing. The corporations seem to have exclusive use of the congress these days. This sort of behavior wont end until the nations populus understand whats going on, and they wont understand more than they are told by CNN or FOX until they have a good education... Does anybody else see a vicious cycle here? Government wants to keep power, government runs the schools (some of the worst among civilized countries) So to keep power it keeps the schools poor and people too stupid to see the long term effects of these bills. Excellent work. Dangle terrorist threats in front of their faces all day on the idiot box (TV) and they wont see the 2am laws being writen by the MPAA. BRAVO!

Big corporations won't be broken up again, no matter who is in office. Since the advent of the global economy, the only way to compete against other international corporations based outside the US, was to grow as large as they were. There is no going back from that - ever.

Unfortunately, that implies that the "little guy" no longer matters at all.

Democratic president, Republican congress, IIRC. Neither party can feign innocence on this one, I'm afraid.

The schools are anything but poor--they are very well-funded in fact. The problem is that the public schools are centers for indoctrination with the governmment-approved Socialist/Fascist ideas---insurance policy against ever returning to the US Constitution as the supreme law of the land.

So how does the U.S. government keep people stupid? The way I see it, people choose to be stupid. The information is there, you just have to do a little of the work yourself to get at it. You can't stop the curious.
