Revolution's New Name: "Wii"

Sounds lame to me, but then again I'm getting old I guess:

»revolution.ign.com/articles/703/···2p1.html

quote:
Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.

No. It's the Revolution to we. And I'll personally see to it that the name "Whatever" is a name for a game console.

Nintendo conforming to everyone's expectations. Non.
Nintendo ticking off people worldwide. Oui.

I love how a name clouds the minds of the weak (or is it wiik?).

I'm looking forward to the new golf game endorsed by Michele Wii.

Gotta admit, it seems really strange, but then again, it's no stranger than "Gamecube" or "Xbox 360" or "Gameboy". They sounded strange when they came out but now it's regular vocab.

Awesome! I'll take my consulting fee in small, unmarked US currency, please!

If there's a handheld version, will it be called the Wee-Wii? (I don't EVEN want to think about marketing for THAT!)

Seriously, as long as the games are good, and fun to play, the name won't matter to me. I'll probably still call it "Revolution" anyway.

That controller is going to take some getting used to, but I like the concept. I just hope the implementation is good as well.
