Lovin It !

Been using it for awhile now and loving it. I do quite a bit of international calling and this expense is now ZERO ... used to all go to at&t.

Has to be freaking out the phone companies ... loving that too

Re: How many actually connect?

Well they base their numbers on the number of installed/registered users. Frankly once I tried Skype I could never see a reason to not use it. It saves me a small fortune in long distance every month. It has no spyware, adware or nagware and it really doesn't use up a whole lot of resources. As for the P2P aspect of Skype, it will only use your machine and connection as a supernode if you allow it to. While Skype is amazingly adept at getting around a firewall when it has to, it won't turn your machine into a supernode unless you open the ports it needs. Otherwise you can be the equivalent of a P2P leecher with Skype simply by blocking it with your firewall while it's running.

They probably do like the firefox folks do and count every download as a new user, not taking into account all the people who re-download the application.

I got off that train -- when I realized it depends on my broadband link to act as a router/server. No thanks.
