it says this in the article: "adjunct to DirectTV" which could mean that it's either part of their dishes, but I really doubt it. I think (hope) they mean terrestrial based microwave link (would they not have said sat. link???) which would make more sense. regular microwave links don't have nearly as much latency as a sat. links.
I wonder though, if these condo's are now "locked in" to this service provider and would not be able to get, say fios, or a faster cable deal (eventually). |

| Doesn't realy matter if they can keep the speed up with FIOS. Yeah, it's a shared link technology in a M.U.D., but it's far faster than what you can get with a standard ISP, (Especally upload speed.) They just need to keep their speed equivalent or higher to any FIOS deployments in the area, and at a lower price. |
