Service (Preferably Free) to Connect to European 00800 Nmbrs

I'm looking for a service (preferably free) for my Asterisk box to connect to European toll free numbers 00800 numbers. I know that many of these numbers are limited to certain countries. A connection that would provide a UK origination would be preferred.

Stu

PS: If anyone wants to try a sample number, try 00800 426 72 457. That corresponds to IBM's pan European English langauge tech support line.

I think Jeff's service is great, but this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about calls to country code (not area code or region code) "800" which is a toll free call throughout the Eurozone.

00800 / +800 is international freephone numbers (UIFN) and is *not* EU-specific; there are a number of +800 numbers that are available from the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, etc.

Support for +800 from US carriers is spotty at best; not all POTS carriers will complete calls to them. I've yet to see a VoIP provider -- US or otherwise -- that will.

Wouldn't the sponsor of the 00800 number have to order open access from the US? If so, and the sponsor of the number doesn't want to pay for calls from the US, then all US carriers would be blocked from providing access to those specific numbers.

Which, of course, ignores the issue of the dial plan ... I thought the 00800 numbers are followed by 8 digits, whereas in the US the convention is 7 digits after the area code. Which would make those numbers undialable from the US in the first place. And I'm not sure how that would be handled number-wise, as prior to the 00800 creation, there was 35 years of US users snatching up 800 area code numbers -- which led to the addition of 888, 877 and 866 area codes -- seemingly leaving very few 7 digit numbers left for sharing with international assignments.

But I'm a little rusty on my international freephone service, so I might be all wrong on all counts...

Methinks the OP needs a Europe-based out-call service with explicit details of pricing to 00800 numbers.
