But it still has a landmass of more than 4000 kilometers squared. In comparison, that is about the same amount of landmass that covers the Los Angeles Metropolitan Statistical Area. Rhode Island gets it's population density from just Providence alone, which has an MSA Population that's larger than the actual states population (1/6th of that in an area that's about 50km squared). Don't be fooled by RI's small size compared to other states, it's still a big project to wire an entire city.
On another note, huray for RI! Providence is a pretty cool town, and one of the best places in the US to live if you like that "small town feel".
