You've got mail, but its not from AOL

AOL as a ISP is failing and will continue to fail as everything they offer, you can already get for free.

Netzero & even Netscape (own by AOL) offer dial-up for 9.95 and there are some who even now offer for less.

Their only real hope now, would maybe to lower their prices (big time) and offer AOL free as a package deal in another company (Verzion DSL, ATT Online, Charter Cable, ect...).

I agree that AOL should offer their services as a premium package for some users ($5/mo), or as an addon to RoadRunner's RRlite package which is priced at $30/mo. TimeWarner needs to get AOL and RR to play nicely and both companies can benefit. I've never been a fan of AOL, but there are people who use the internet and have absolutely no clue of what they're doing, and AOL is of use to those people. A service like AOL is great at bringing new users to the internet. They need to capitalize on that.

Is it TRUELY $9.95 though?

If you take a glimpse at the T.O.S you'll see this little line: In addition to standard subscription fees, taxes, regulatory fees, or additional services such as international usage may be included in charges.

I've never seen anyone pay more... Unless your using an outside line from out side your calling area (long distance) or you've decided to pay for a dedicated phone line.

I know. RR doesn't advertise it, and AOL doesn't tell people cancelling about it because it doesn't give them money (although it would inflate their numbers even more)
