[Other] HKBN with PAP2 Configuration Help

My Linksys PAP2 box appears to register to the HKBN 2b network work successfully. However, I am still not able to get a tone or dial out. Any help is appreciated.

Here is the log file:

Friends and I have been having difficulty with 2b using in North America. We use PAP2, Sipura 3000, and either it won't register or it won't after an IP change (ISP does it , we have no control). I tried their own softphone and it won't either. I tried on 2 diff. sites using 2 diff. ISPs, and I know about the pa.2b.com.hk site to reset the account first.

I just got a call an hour ago from a friend who just had a similar problem. His IP changed, and obviously it stopped working, but even after he resetted via pa.2b.com.hk site and then reset his PAP2, it still won't work. Now he's going to try the softphone per my suggestion.

This is indeed very wierd, as in the past we didn't have this many problems. Friends in HK seem to have better luck though. Friend might go back to the Citi Telecom Canada's hardware VoIP service instead, now the price is quite a lot cheaper (since 2b came out!, competition).

BTW, I also experimented with all s21 to s24.hkbnetel.net as Outbound Proxy, and I knew about adding the hk at the end of the user field for these newer / bought in HK retail market accounts. So it's none of those problems, plus it was working before. The account also logged into pa site correctly, and thus validating the passwords.

I don't know if their servers are too busy to get the message from the pa site for the reset. I also don't know why they have to implement such manual reset functionality. Some of the ISPs in the US change IP every 15 minutes I was told, and that'd render this service completely impractical to use. [And that's nothing to do w/ using BYOD, even softphone, their own one, needs to reset.]

Sorry I can't help your problem more though. But I do suggest you to check your RTP setting in the SIP page, and if it's still 0.030 , then you need to change it to 0.020. However, that doesn't affect dial tone, only the voice traffic. You are also contradicting yourself, if your line is registered, you will get dial tone regardless of your settings. If you can't dial-out, then it could be other problems like dial-plans, etc. Good luck.
