[Camera] Low-end digital camer recommendations

It seems my 1.5 year old Canon Powershot A75 has just decided to cease to function - it simply will not power on, even with fresh batteries.

So I guess I'm in the market for a replacement and was hoping I might get some recommendations for a low-end, sub $200 digital camera. Since the camera I did have used CF cards I was hoping to retain that format in the replacement camera that I get.

Other, than that my only other requirement is that it not be a Canon product; this situation with the powershot a75 has turned me off that brand for good.

Thanks.

though it pains me , as a Nikon user , to say this, don't be silly!
One bad experiance does not make a brand bad!
For your money, Canon does make some great P&S cameras, there are others, I'm sure people will chime in.

In the sub $200 arena it is almost impossible to beat the Panasonic LZ2 or LZ3 cameras. 6x optical zoom, Leica Lens, Image Stabilization (O.I.S.), excellent image quality. I have successfully gotten 11x14" prints from this camera and a good starting image. It will do 8x10" without a problem. The OIS works amazingly. Doesn't have a whole lot of manually selective features, but it is an excellent camera.

Here are a couple shots:

This is also one, ignore EXIF data, it was NOT a D200, lol, but it was taken out the window at that speed

P.S. It does however use SD media, but you can get a 1GB SD card for like $20.

I’m with vapochilled See Profile, Canon makes some fine cameras. Heck, I’ve shot 10,000 images on my Canon gear in the last few months with nary a problem. You can’t go wrong with any of Canon’s ~$200 models.
