Security Suite for Mediacom customers

Even though most of you know about a security suite by Customer Associates that is available for free for Mediacom HSI customers I think most of you don't know how to get it.

More info about the software can be found HERE.

To start CLICK HERE

Enter your @MCHSI email address and your first and last name. If you don't know or have an email account set up with Mediacom HSI service please call customer service. The number for your area can be found HERE (just enter your zip code, the number will be under "Mediacom Online Tech Support").

You will receive an email message containing the download link and the registration code. If you don't use your email client to check your Mediacom inbox you can always login HERE.

The software will not expire as long as you keep your HSI service.

Just a side note to this thread: Make sure you uninstall ALL other security/antivirus software before installing the Etrust Security Suite. This can cause serious problems for your machine if it is not done. I have seen cases where people can not even access their control panel in safe mode.

If I have more than one machine at my house can I load this on multiple machines?

I'm pretty sure the license is for 1 pc. However, Mediacom gives you 6(?) email accounts, so you can have a license per email address.

You can use it for multiple computers (no activation).

i've been using NAV 2002 and free ZA with my linksys router for several years now without any problems. recently my Router died and i'm not really confident with just the free ZA.
has anyone any reviews of this security suite, ie; does it bog your system down with a bunch of stuff like the current symantec offering?

ok i went ahead and took a chance, it appears to me to be a nenamed version of zone alarm pro.
so far so good

update, started causing problems and became a hassel to configure. used customer support to access online assistance and the CS told me i needed to get my support from MC.
so if i have this straight , if this security suite causes you problems that you don't know how to deal with then the company that is supposed to provide support just directs you to MC.
too much hassel for me i am going back to my old security set up. i DO NOT reccomend this bloated security suite.

I have been using eTrust for over a year on one of my computers. Never had any issues.
What is your old security set up?

Agree with Anonymous. I've been using it on a few of my machines and "bloated" would not be a word I describe the eTrust as. Honestly, and ironically, that is the exact word I use for Norton stuff, being a Norton user for the past several years (rebate on top of rebate = almost free upgrades each year). Are you using a really old machine? I've seen eTrust not be too kind on old, low resources available, machines.

nothing fancy, i just prefer to have a lot less stuff running in the background.
i'm sure it's fine for some, but i'm not really pc savvy and reconfiguring stuff so i could access yahoo mail was a hassel, it said i had to enable a bunch of java scripting stuff fot it to work, problem was, it was already enabled.

the deal killer for me was the suggestion that i go thru MC for support.

glad you like it.

it just appears to be zone alarm pro from the looks of it.

It is Zone Alarm Pro with some modifications.

However, I have been running it for well over a year and have had no problems aside from installing on multiple pc's with the same license key. Eventually, the license key expired.

One e-mail address equals one pc.

Re: Security Suite for Mediacom customers

I am trying to get the latest version of this software ... i went to the website albany.mediacomtoday.com and entered my email. I retrieved the email and downloaded eISS.exe ... the version number is 1.0.0.5. Is this the lastest version from CA. I noticed the title was still eTrust. I have not installed it as I want to make sure that I am installing CA Internet Security and not eTrust (old version).

The newest version has not been pushed out to us yet. That download is the eTrust suite.

What happens if I download the trial and use the code I received in my email?

Does anyone have a link to download the newest CA suite that works with vista and is usable with our mediacom serial number?

This may not be the "right" way but how I did it.

1. Go to this link »https://home3.ca.com/Login2.aspx?lang=en_US
You will have to enter your mediacom email account address. If you are like me, you don't know your CA password.

2. Chose "I forgot my password"
The page will comeup where you will enter your mediacom email address and CA will now send you an email with your CA Passowrd.

3. Go back to »https://home3.ca.com/Login2.aspx?lang=en_US and login with your mediacom email addy and the new password you got from CA. You will be sent to a page which will allow you to download v3.

oh .. and it work

And another thing .. how dow I edit my little area to the
right so that I can change the ugly green background?

I was able to download the iss3 but when I tried to install it in vista rtm it said that it was incompatible. Any eta on a new version for vista? I instead installed free avg antivirus from grisoft on vista and that worked ok.

I had a few questions...

So has anyone had issues and called Mediacom for support with this? And if so what kind of support did you receive?

A review of the software show that it isn't the best.

There is no Zone Alarm code in this software. CA acquired Tiny Software and they are using their code. All CA did was to mimic Zone Alarms features.

Port 135 is left open too. Not sure if they patched that yet.

Also seeing posts about slow PC performance after install.

Interesting reading here:

Read and Investigate before you take the plunge.

Some user reviews here:

By the looks of things this Software is on the price decline and is not widely being endorsed. I even saw Newegg had it for free at one time.

Doesn't seem to be taking the public by storm.

Installer beware.
