The myth that POTS is required for DSL service is a lie. The Telco can run DSL on a completely different pair that has no Dial-Tone.
Most of the ISPs lie to consumers and tell them that "DSL requires Dial-Tone, so you have to have POTS in order to have DSL". I was told that by both AT&T (the old AT&T, before the buy out with SBC) and BellSouth. |

... nice too.. because Qwest now offer's their unlimited long distance service for $20.00 a month to any customer now, Qwest or not. I think they are "getting it" that people don't ALWAYS want to be bundled up.. |
