With a hats off to jabarnut for last year's AV poll:
This year the AV poll is capable of multiple choices for those of you who use more then one AV. Tell us what your primary AV is and what you use for back up.
If you use a pay version, vote in the general category but please be specific as to why you like the added features of the pay version.
If you use an integrated suite, please vote for the AV that is inlcuded in the suite.
The option for online scanning should be chosen only if you use that alone for your AV protection.
Above all, tell us your experiences with the product you use, the level of protection provided, the amount of system resources used and any other information you feel is relevant.
If you don't use an AV at all we want to know that as well.
Thanks for your input. -- Team Discovery

1 edit | Good job, mers2 !
McAfee user here, for years.
I guess mostly because other than 1 or two FP's I've never had issue with it.
I have it on a test box as well, and it's always intercepted what I've thrown at it. |

| reply to mers2 Use the E-Trust EZ suite package myself. Has E-Trust Personal Firewall, E-Trust Pest Patrol, EZ AntiVirus, and E-Trust Anti-Spam. Works fine for me, and got it free thru Mediacom HSI. -- We Run Folding@Home! |

Very nice job mers2 ! (And the honorable mention is very much appreciated as well)
Ok..the topic at hand My AV Program hasn't changed from last year.
Still using AVG on all my machines.
While it may not be the very best, it's free and it serves my purposes well. I've also found (after comparing it to others in the past), that it's pretty easy on system resources, especially with a couple of my older machines.
I'm just a creature of habit I suppose. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

| reply to mers2 Recent switched to NOD32 from NAV. Nice improvement over NAV and no messy activation to deal with. Might as well ditch Norton after so many years because there are more superior products out there on the market to replace nearly all of their bloated offerings. -- Please use all available doors...you have 33 to choose from. |

| reply to mers2 AVG on one machine, Avast on the other. Occasionally Avast will hit something that I'm moving over there to storage from the AVG machine but not often. One scans daily (AVG) with a resident shield, the other (Avast) looks as I move about on the system. Still undecided which I like better.
Used Panda's online scan once, know I un-checked the "offers" box, but that hasn't stopped the weekly spam (that my computer is infected) from them. (It wasn't infected). -- To be on a pedestal is to be in a corner |

 | reply to mers2 Avast Home Edition free for 1-1/2 yrs now and wouldn't think of changing... Like the 'little guy' that talkes to me when he updates OR if something is found...
Bitdefender8 free as an offline scanner... This seems to scan very deep into files and has served me well the past 6 months...

KAV - that's what I would like to use, but I can't because it caused too many problems on my computer, so I had to uninstall it (excellent support) |

... I'm almost embarrassed to admit, but ... after trying out three replacements in the last 3 months, I begrudgingly returned to eTrust as resident, with BitDefender 8 as on-demand backup ... like the product, don't like the company, hate the support ...
... nice job on the poll, mers ...
