[General] Linksys PAP2t Phone Adapter Unlocked

People are selling these on Ebay and what not.
I know they saying it is unlock; But when I read
the method on here unlocking it says if you do hardreset
It goes back to original(i.e. Vonage) Firmware which is locked.
So it is safe to buy those ?
and what they compatable to Sipura ?

Re: [General] Linksys PAP2t Phone Adapter Unlocked

I have yet to see any VoSP carriers to use and/or local shops sell this PAP2T locked to their services. Until then, I don't know if the one you pointed out is a PAP2T-NA or an unlock of PAP2T. If it is the later, then expect the device to get relocked once factory reset (even though no one has claimed to ever try it at of this writing).

What is the difference between the Pap2 and the Pap2t? What does the "T" stand for? Is it a new version or what?

PAP2T is suppose to have 2x Flash memory than PAP2. Perhaps, it comes with a much powerful CPU that can handle two concurrent lines with a G729 CoDec.

Re: [General] Linksys PAP2t Phone Adapter Unlocked

I just received one. Looks identical to PAP2-NA, but with differences.

1. Plain white package with only a sticker on the box. Accessories are one piece of Quick installation, power adapter, and a ethernet cable. No more CD and Product Registration card.
2. LEDs colour changed to green.
3. Back connection panel colour also changed to green.
4. Cannot stand up. Can only flatly lay on desk. No detachable small parts any more! Maybe overheat in Summer. (Sorry for my English)
5. Firmware version and size seems the same as original PAP2 but with lower version and older release date. (Newest is 3.1.10LSc Feb 2006)
6. When making calls and opening web configuration pages at the same time, pages are slow to open, just like the PAP2. That means CPU speed is same to PAP2?
7. Tried to force both lines to use g729. But actually when first call is in g729, another line will switch to g711u automatically. So still one g729 session.
8. Still 10Mbps half-duplex ethernet.

Above all, I conclude that PAP2T-NA is a simplified or low price version of PAP2-NA. Just like WPA54G and WPA54GC. If you need two g729 sessions, go for spa2100 or spa2102.
