I don't have any infection symptoms, just curious what this entry might be.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ShowLOMControl]
this is how it shows up in my log. This is a new Dell E1505 Windows XP media center edition 2005 |

Can you navigate to that key and maybe tell us more about it?
I suspect it's legit and HijackThis can't interpret what the value is? |

| reply to HeelYeah When I Googled it, all forum experts were telling other subjects to delete it.
For CJ= HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run ShowLOMControl Reg_DWORD 0x00000001 (1)
Thats all I could find in the registry.
This is a Dell. |

| Let's not delete it just because we don't know what it is.
Makes sense? I don't care what other forums say (or google)
I will say again, HijackThis is NOT the silver bullet. Unless something else tells you it's bad, it probably isn't
Edit to add Right now I would say it is an unknown but that doesn't mean it's bad. I gotta have facts to state that it is! -- It takes a disaster to make a woman out of a female

| reply to HeelYeah Thanks CJ, I dont think its malware. I Have all XP updates, Nod32, BoClean, WindowsDefender, Winpatrol, Router and KAV AntiHacker and only go online with a Limited Account using Firefox. If you determine what it is in the future, please post your findings in this thread. I will leave it alone for now. Thanks Again. |

| reply to HeelYeah LOM = LAN on Motherboard.
It mean Show "LAN on Motherboard" Control.
On systems where you can install an external LAN interface, it will warn you that you already have a built-in LAN interface.
Appears to be a feature on certain Dell systems. |

| Thanks jmorlan
Mystery solved. I'll see about getting this added to the Startup List database. |
