| Keyboard- Controll 2 computers at once
I am not looking for a kmv switch, i want to control two computers "at the same time" not one at a time.
is there some kind of Y adapter that will split a single keyboard connection into two? -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob. |

One thing you could try is identical wireless keyboards on the same channel. Both receivers should pick up the signal from the keyboard. -- Brains will win the day. |

| reply to P Ness You might be able to make something up with a couple of these. »l3shop.com/data/keyat.pdf We use them at work (not me personally) in automated test setups where we want one computer to control another. We send RS232 commands to them and they output keystrokes. I think they also have the capability to convert incoming keystrokes and output on the serial port.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, you might try making your own adapter. (I haven't tried this and don't know for sure that it works, but think it should. Try at your own risk.)
PS2 port pinouts are easily googled. Get 2 male and 1 female connectors (or just cut up a couple of keyboard extender cables) Wire the 4 pins used in keyboards straight through for your 'master' computer. For the slave computer, connect only the data, clock, and ground lines. This should allow one keyboard to control 2 computers. To play it safe, you might get a couple of devices like this so that if something goes wrong it would fry it instead of your motherboard.
Just out of curiosity, what is your application for this? |

| reply to P Ness »www.kavoom.biz/cu/hvs.html I'm not sure that's exactly what you want - read the description on the page. What I gather it's doing is not necessarily sending keystrokes to all computers at the same time, but is automatically switching to each computer based on your mouse movements in going from monitor to monitor.
If all else fails, get in touch with them directly. I've found them to be very helpful and responsive to my inquiries (I use their KaVoom! software KVM here at the house, it's great). -- ...then THINK! again!! |
